NEWS: 2016 SUMMER BASKETBALL CAMPS SCHEDULE RELEASED

 

Pro Skills Basketball is excited to announce our 2016 summer basketball camp schedule.  In addition to Charlotte, NC, Sacramento, CA and Denver, CO, PSB will be launching basketball camps in Greensboro, NC and Boston, MA this year.

Our summer basketball camps are dedicated to teaching basketball fundamentals to kids in a safe and enjoyable environment. Our summer camps include games, competitive basketball drills designed for kids of all skill levels.

With a staff of experienced coaches and players, these events provide a great opportunity for kids to learn from players who have had success both on and off the court. All camps are open to boys and girls in grades 3-8.

The spring NCAA basketball “evaluation” periods are coming up the next two weekends in April and then again repeating for 3 weeks in a row in July.

During this time, college coaches are allowed, per the NCAA, to watch AAU basketball teams in person around the country in order to evaluate potential college prospects.

I thought it’d be a perfect time to write about what these college basketball coaches look for when evaluating a potential college basketball recruit. Parents and players (and even AAU coaches) often times have no idea what college scouts are looking for in their evaluations, so they end up focusing their energy and efforts on the wrong things.

3 Reasons Why Bench Celebrations are Crucial for Basketball

 

Walking around an AAU basketball tournament this past weekend, it became apparent that bench enthusiasm is not a primary focus in the world of youth basketball.

Having briefly covered the topic in a previous blog post, I feel the need to elaborate on the subject. The importance of teaching young players to remain active and engaged while on the bench can not be underestimated!

As I emerge from the basketball coma induced by the beginning of March Madness, I am more convinced than ever that remaining active and enthusiastic by celebrating while on the bench has a number of benefits for both players, coaches, and teams as a whole.

If we can teach young basketball players the value of enthusiasm for the success of the team as parents, coaches, directors, managers, ADULTS…we can change the culture of youth basketball and youth sports in America!

As the AAU basketball season started this year, we started our first ever “Stay Active Campaign” with our AAU teams, which is focused on encouraging kids to remain enthusiastic and active while they’re on the bench.
