Steve Kutner Memorial Summer Camp Scholarship
The Steve Kutner Memorial Summer Camp Scholarship is named after Steve Kutner, who passed away from cancer in 2018. Steve was kind and generous, had a great sense of humor, and LOVED to play basketball. He played varsity basketball as a teenager, then played for Cathedral College in NY. He worked tirelessly and with commitment to become a terrific scorer and team leader in college.
He continued playing basketball throughout most of his life, playing weekly pick up games with the same competitive spirit and challenging younger players to games well into his fifties and surprising them with his skills, drive and competition. He shared his love of basketball with his family, coaching his daughters’ CYO basketball teams, organizing “Knock Out” competitions at every family backyard party, and enjoying March Madness every year.
Steve is incredibly missed, but he would love the idea of some young kids getting to play basketball in his honor so it is with all of that in mind that this summer camp scholarship was created.
One week of PSB summer camp for free. There are 10 total scholarships available (2 per family limit).
To honor Steve Kutner’s love of basketball while recognizing his and others’ battle with cancer. In addition, to bring words of support and encouragement to other cancer patients.
Each potential camper will need to qualify for PSB’s financial aid. PSB bases their financial aid requirements on the school’s free/reduced lunch program.
