Jeff Depelteau graduated from South Hadley High School in 2001 after helping lead his team to a Western Massachusetts Division II Championship and earning First-Team All-Western Massachusetts honors along the way.
Following graduation from South Hadley, Jeff decided to attend Suffield Academy Prep School in Suffield, Connecticut as a post-graduate student. There, he played with and against some of the best competition in the nation.
After a successful prep school year, Jeff moved on to Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. In his freshman season, Jeff made 23 appearances before a career-ending knee injury got him into coaching.
Throughout college, Jeff stayed involved with the Wheaton College basketball program, as well as served as an assistant coach at South Hadley High School. During that time, South Hadley won three consecutive Western Massachusetts championships and the program made its first-ever State Championship appearance.
After graduating in 2006 with a degree in English, Jeff accepted a position at Rabun-Gap Nacoochee School in Rabun Gap, Georgia as an Admissions Counselor and Assistant Basketball Coach.
Following one year at Rabun Gap, Jeff returned to Suffield Academy, this time as a member of the faculty. After one season as Head Junior Varsity Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach, Jeff took over the Suffield Academy Varsity Basketball Program.
In his eight seasons at the helm of Suffield Academy, they qualified for the NEPSAC Tournament each year, advancing to the final four in six times.
Suffield advanced to the New England Prep Championship three times (2013, 2015, and 2017), winning the New England Class B Championship in 2013. Jeff was twice named New England Prep Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2017.
During his eight years leading the Suffield basketball program, over 40 of his student-athletes moved on to play basketball at the NCAA Division 1, 2, and 3 levels.
Jeff is a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), and he is a certified FIBA coach and USA Basketball coach.
Jeff is involved with USA Basketball, working with the U16 and U17 Men’s National Teams and most recently with the USA Basketball Youth Division. Jeff enjoys mentoring young basketball coaches.
In 2015, he was selected as a winner of Nike’s “America’s Got Basketball Coaching Talent” contest and spoke at the Nike Championship Basketball Coaches Clinic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
His speech, “Growing as a Coach,” from this clinic was produced and marketed by Championship Productions. Jeff continues to travel and speak at basketball coaching clinics in the United States.
Jeff is currently the Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Christ School in Arden, NC. The Greenies are considered to be one of the top programs in the state of North Carolina and in the country. Jeff is very excited to serve as the Co-Director of PSB Asheville.
Jeff is happily married with two sons and lives in Asheville, NC.
