Karl Barkley is originally from Davidson, NC and graduated from North Meck High School in 2011. At North Meck, Karl was a four-year member of the basketball team and a captain during his senior year.
After high school, Karl attended Swarthmore College, where he was a standout student-athlete and an active member of the student body. On the court, Karl was a three-year starter and two-year captain for the Garnet.
Off the court, he studied Political Science and took Chinese language classes. He also volunteered as a coach for local elementary schools and founded a sustainability in athletics organization dedicated to reducing the environmental impact of college sports.
During his senior year he was recognized for his community service as one of ten men’s college basketball players selected to the prestigious Allstate Good Works Team.
After graduating from college, Karl took a short break from Basketball and worked at a law firm in Washington, DC. In DC he continued practicing his Chinese at George Washington University and after two years decided to merge his interest in the game of basketball and Chinese by helping to start a PSB office in Chengdu, China.
Karl is now the Co-Director of PSB China and is thrilled to have the unique opportunity to develop the game of basketball abroad.
