Nick was a standout player at local High School Hickory Grove scoring 1900 points in high school and leading the state in scoring his senior year at 25 ppg before moving on to D2 power Anderson University.
At Anderson, he finished his career 1st in wins, 2nd in all time scoring and 1st in 3 pointers made. He also had equal success in the classroom finishing as Academic All American of the Year his senior year carrying a 3.9 GPA while averaging 15 points and 4 rebounds per game on a top 20 team.
Since then Nick has been working with athletes of all levels and teams since returning home, most notably the reigning 3A state champions Cox Mill High School.
He brings a unique style of development blending his exercise science degree and playing exercise to educate players on how to train and compete at the highest level.
Nick played two years of Junior College basketball at UConn-Avery Point, where he was a two-year captain. From there, he went on to become a five-year student manager at University of Connecticut for the men’s basketball program, winning two National Championships during that period in 2011 & 2014.
Nick then moved on to work with the Charlotte Hornets where his responsibilities included NBA Draft prep, free agency prep, and summer league practice.
With that NBA experience, Nick went on to become (and still is) the personal basketball skills trainer for Jeremy Lamb, guard for the Charlotte Hornets. Nick analyzes game film and tailors Jeremy’s workouts to make sure they are as translatable and effective as possible. With Nick’s help, Jeremy has seen steady improvements each of the last three years since their partnership began.
Akin Akingbala graduated from Brunswick High School in Greenwich, Connecticut in 2002 and then went on to play college basketball at Clemson University.
At Clemson, Akin was a three-year starter and led the Tigers in field goal percentage as a junior and senior. In his senior year, he was named the MVP of the team after leading the team in scoring and rebounding as well as to their first postseason victory over Louisville in the NIT tournament.
After Clemson, Akin went on to play professionally for 10 years in Spain, Russia, France and several other countries, and along the way, he won the French National Championship in 2011 and competed in the Euroleague Championship Tournament, the top league in the world next to the NBA.
Akin is now focused sharing his basketball knowledge and skills as well as in-game experience to positively impact aspiring high school, college, and professional players.
