What is PSB about?
We believe that basketball, like every youth sport, should be used as a vehicle to teach young people life skills like dedication, teamwork and overcoming adversity. We also believe that basketball is a great tool to keep kids active and physically healthy.
Who are PSB Directors and Coaches?
All PSB Directors are former or current high level coaches and/or players. You can read more about them here. Coaches are hand picked by PSB Directors based on very specific criteria. Directors and coaches must pass background checks and must abide by strict PSB standards. We recognize the importance of who teaches our children and that it’s not something to be taken lightly.
What is a PSB membership?
A PSB membership is an 8-month or 11-month commitment, depending on the city, and includes practice gym time, tournament/league entry fees, coaches salaries, and more. It does not include any travel or team gear/uniforms. Please check the Policies and Procedures Handbook on your nearest city team homepage for all the information on the membership
Does PSB help with college recruiting?
As a member of PSB high school teams, players do receive help with college recruiting. However, for more intensive help and instruction, we have a Recruiting Consultancy that offers families peace of mind and the comfort of having well-informed guidance throughout the college basketball recruiting and selection process. Find out more about what our Recruiting Consultancy has to offer here.
I want to learn more, how can I get more information?
We encourage you to read the Policies and Procedures Handbook and your city specific club team details page on your nearest city team homepage for ALL detailed information on our teams, but if you can’t find what you’re looking for please visit our contact us page and fill out the form or give us a call at 866-996-3888!
What are your PSB AAU teams?
Our AAU Basketball Teams take our focus on skill development combined with life lessons and put them into a competitive team environment for kids of intermediate to advanced skill level. You can click here to learn more and find teams near you!
Are AAU teams offered in every city?
No, it depends on the city. Simply check out our AAU Basketball Teams page here to see if teams are offered in your city.
How do I join an AAU basketball team?
We hold AAU basketball tryouts! Typically, the tryouts are held in late January, throughout February, and/or early March.
Are Our AAU basketball teams competitive?
It is the goal of PSB to field competitive AAU Basketball Teams, but our focus is not winning championships. While all teams will play in competitive tournaments and/or leagues, the competitive level of each team varies from team to team and season to season. As long as our players and teams get better, have fun, and learn life lessons, we feel we have accomplished our mission!
Does everyone that attends tryouts make the team?
We limit our teams to at most 10 players, and in some cases, 2 practice players who only practice and do not play.
Are PSB Teams age or grade based?
We categorize our teams based on the grade the players are in at the time of tryouts.
What are the ages/grades of the teams?
PSB offers teams from 2nd-11th grade, but each location may differ. Please check the Policies and Procedures Handbook on your nearest city team homepage for the grades of teams offered.
How many AAU basketball teams do you have per grade?
PSB expects to field 1-3 teams per grade for each location. If there are enough players at tryouts to create multiple teams in a single grade and location then the teams will typically be created according to skill level. We believe this gives players of different skill levels the opportunity to maximize their practicing and playing time, and thus, their improvement.
Do you have girls AAU basketball teams?
Yes! We are excited to offer girls AAU basketball teams in some locations. Please check the city specific club details page on your nearest city team homepage to see if girls teams are offered in your area.
Is a gear package and uniform included in the membership?
No. Each player will be required to purchase a gear package that includes a uniform before every season.
How many times a week do the teams practice?
In the spring/summer, our teams will have 2 mandatory practices per week. Practices will be between 5-9pm at a local gym Monday-Thursday and repeat same day, time, and location each week. For the fall season or fall/winter season (depending on location) there will only be a few team practices. Instead, PSB will run optional skill workouts every week in which players can choose to attend as many or as few as they wish.
When are the games?
Leagues and tournaments will typically take place Friday evening through Sunday afternoons on the average of twice a month, but this varies by city. At the beginning of each season, we do our best to provide a tentative schedule for our families.
Does everyone on the team get to play in each game?
All players will get an opportunity to play in games, but the coach will determine the amount of playing time by those players that give the team the best chance to compete and/or win. Players will not simply be given playing time; they must earn it in practice and games.
Do Our AAU Basketball Teams travel?
Most of our AAU Basketball Teams do not travel, especially the elementary and middle school teams. These teams may travel occasionally to another city within reasonable driving distance, but they mostly play local events. Our high school teams do travel when necessary for recruitment or competition purposes. This occasionally requires hotel stays, and every once in a while, a plane flight as well.
How much does it cost to be on a team?
PSB recognizes that competitive basketball is an investment in your athlete’s development, on and off the court. Costs vary per location. Please check your city specific club details page on your nearest city team homepage for specific investment information.
I am a returning player and have a uniform, why do I still need to buy a gear kit?
We require all players to wear specific items to maintain uniformity across our teams. This includes a new design of the required warm-up top/shooting shirt for the season. We provide multiple choices for players, including new player kits and a returning player kit, with or without a game uniform.
Can I buy just the uniform and not the other items?
We can not separate the items in the kit. The only items that can be purchased individually are the optional items under apparel and accessories at the time you enter your sizes.
Why won’t it let me select the jersey number I want?
That number either belongs to someone else on the roster or that number is not available in the size you selected. Please select a different number until you see your size is not grayed out.
Why aren’t any jersey numbers showing up for me to select?
At the time of your membership registration, you inputted a jersey # which blocks being able to order a uniform. If you input a jersey number by mistake and need to order a uniform, please email jill@proskillsbasketball.com so she can detach the jersey number from your ID #, which will allow you to order a uniform.
Why can’t I order siblings' kits in one order?
The gear links are personalized with your child's ID # and is linked to their respective team to eliminate duplicate roster numbers. Please note that the system is built to permit only one kit per order. Be sure you are inputting sizes for the child listed on the home page.
I purchased my kit and checked out but can’t get back to the team store to purchase additional optional items?
Once you enter sizes and hit submit, the link is no longer valid. You can purchase optional items from our shop on our website www.proskillsbasketball.com
When will I receive my items?
Upon clicking the link provided in your email after completing the payment for your gear and entering the required sizes, your items will ship within 3-5 business days after you hit submit!

Health Awareness PROTOCOLS

Covid-19 prevention protocols (including mask wearing and spectator limits) within PSB may vary from location to location depending on city/state circumstances. Please inquire with your specific City Director regarding said protocols.

If a positive test occurs for a player, that player is to be held out of PSB activities until they are cleared to return to school. When that clearance is given, they can then return to PSB activities.

The City Director will determine whether a game or practice needs to be canceled based on a positive test(s) within any given team.
