Dan brings an extensive background in coaching and player development to the program. With 37 years of college basketball experience, he has dedicated his career to mentoring athletes and building successful teams.
A former player at Ohio Northern University, Coach Priest went on to serve as an assistant coach at Miami (Ohio) University, Indiana State, and Hanover College. He then spent 24 years as a head coach at Ohio Dominican University, Hendrix College, and Kenyon College, shaping programs with his leadership and expertise.
In recognition of his impact on the game, Coach Priest was honored with the 2024 NABC Guardians of the Game Service Award. He has also been a dedicated member of the Jay Bilas Basketball Camp staff for a decade, further demonstrating his commitment to player development.
Now, Coach Priest is excited to work alongside his counterpart, Mike Strickland, supporting coaches, families, and players while continuing to grow the game in the Charleston community.
Michael had an All-State basketball career at Carolina Forest High School in Myrtle Beach, SC, and then went on to play basketball in college at Randolph Macon University, where he studied Business and Economics.
After college, Michael spent 15 years coaching college and prep-school basketball, most recently as the Director of Training Camps at IMG academy.
Michael was raised in the gym and basketball has taken him around the world. His father, Pete, has been a coach for 40+ years and has coached every level of basketball from high school to college (Divisions I, II and III) as well as professionally in Ireland.
Michael loves basketball, the beach, biking, golf, and his dog, Mason β¦ and Charleston!
