One of the biggest mistakes that players make, especially younger ones, is thinking that all they need to do is show up to team practice, workouts, weights, and they are good to go. What needs to be understood, though, is that this is the bare minimum. This is what everyone else is also doing. What needs to be asked is, what are you doing above and beyond what everyone else is doing?
If you look at the best players in the world, you will see that most of them are naturally gifted, but you will also see that they are the hardest workers. The work ethic of players like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, etc. is incredible. These elite-level players are never satisfied with where they are at and are always looking to improve. They not only want to work hard, but they enjoy the process and what it brings out of them.
This is the type of mindset that you need to have as a player. Regardless of how much success you have had, you should always be looking to improve and get better.
