Testimonials
  • From skills, to skills, to more skills- then broken down to in game scenarios. not about winning and loosing- they approach it as player development and future possibilities. Ideally PSB is for the serious players who want to take their game to the next level- and learn how to play basketball at a high IQ level. Highly recommend.

  • We didn’t know what to expect when PSB Basketball came to the area, but it’s been an incredible experience from day one. The program is extremely well organized and always focused on player development—not just wins. The coaches are fantastic, and having my son train with actual high school and college coaches has been such a valuable experience for him. He’s learning the game, gaining confidence, and being pushed to improve every session. Highly recommend PSB for any family serious about long-term basketball growth.

Long Island Leadership

Portrait of Ben Martinez

Ben Martinez, Director

Ben Martinez is a seasoned basketball coach with 18 years of experience, following a distinguished playing career at both the high school and collegiate levels. As a student-athlete at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, he excelled in basketball and baseball, earning all-Union County and all-Watchung Conference honors as a senior captain. At Montclair State University, Martinez was a two-year co-captain, leading his team to a conference championship and a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA tournament, where he was named to the All-NCAA Sectional team.

Transitioning to coaching, he began as a varsity assistant at his alma mater, contributing to the school’s first and only state championship and later guiding the team as head coach to a rare state sectional championship appearance. Martinez has been instrumental in developing top talent, including the school’s all-time leading scorer and several athletes who advanced to collegiate sports. From 2012 to 2022, he served as the Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach at Stevens Institute of Technology, helping secure two conference championships and mentoring multiple all-conference players, including two conference players of the year and an All-American.

His expertise encompasses recruiting, player development, scouting, and academic support, establishing him as a well-rounded leader in basketball coaching.

FAQs

Our Club Teams typically run 8–11 months depending on the city. Families can expect 2–3 practices or workouts per week and 2–3 weekends per month with games or tournaments. We believe in long-term development, not quick-hit seasons.

We support multi-sport athletes! Many of our players compete in soccer, football, baseball, and more. Just let us know your schedule, and we’ll work together to find the best fit — whether that’s a Club Team or placement in our Player Development Academy with more flexibility.

We offer flexible payment plans in every city. In some locations, limited scholarship or financial aid options may also be available. Reach out to us directly to learn more — we’re here to help.

Not every player is placed on a Club Team, but no one gets left behind. Through our Player Development Academy (PDA), athletes receive structured training, weekly practices, and internal game play — with the opportunity to be reevaluated for a Club Team during the year.

In most cities, we host open clinics, camps, or evaluation sessions prior to the start of the season. These are great opportunities to experience our coaching and culture firsthand. Reach out to your local director to see what’s available near you.
