Our 2018 spring/summer season PSB Charlotte AAU team tryouts are now available for sign up for boys players in grades 3-11 and this year we’ll have more locations than ever!

This spring and summer we’ll have teams based out of 2 different areas in north Charlotte, including Lake Norman and Concord, and 2 different areas in central/south Charlotte, including Dilworth/Myers Park/Southpark and Ballantyne/Waxhaw.

North Charlotte teams will be directed by Jason Snow, the Assistant Director of PSB Charlotte – North, while the central/south Charlotte teams will be directed by Colin Robbie, our Assistant Director of PSB Charlotte – South.

On top of that, Jason and Colin will each be assisted by 2 team area managers who all played college basketball and are now current school basketball coaches! More on these team managers below.

North Charlotte AAU Teams

#1 Lake Norman AAU Teams

Our Lake Norman AAU teams will have teams in grades 3-11 and will be based out of the Mooresville, Davidson, Cornelius, and Huntersville areas from mostly exit 31 to exit 25 along I-77. We’re going to do our best to have the majority of, if not all, of our teams based out of Davidson and Cornelius so that it allows for players from Mooresville and Huntersville to “meet in the middle” for practices.

These teams will be managed by longtime PSB coach, BJ Spencer, a former D1 college and overseas pro player who is now a Catholic school coach and AD. BJ will also be directing basketball camps for us with the town of Huntersville recreation department this summer!

#2 Concord AAU Teams

For the first time ever, we’ll have Concord AAU teams for boys in grades 3-8! These teams will be based out of Cox Mill High School and managed by Cox Mill state championship coach Jody Barbee.

Last summer, Coach Barbee ran PSB summer camps out of Cox Mill, so we’re excited to get PSB Club teams started there as well!

Central Charlotte & South Charlotte AAU Teams

#1 Central Charlotte AAU Teams

Our central Charlotte AAU teams for boys in grades 3-11 will be based out of the Dilworth, Myers Park, Southpark areas of Charlotte. These teams will be managed by Myers Park boys varsity basketball assistant coach, Antonio Stabler, a Queens basketball alum and professional overseas player.

#2 South Charlotte AAU Teams

PSB south Charlotte Club Teams will be based out of the Ballantyne, Waxhaw, and Fort Mill areas, specifically Ardrey Kell High School and Marvin Ridge High School and Middle Schools, and will be available for boys in grades 3-8.

In major news, Adam Haines, the Marvin Ridge boys varsity basketball head coach, has signed on to direct year-round programs out of Marvin Ridge, including managing our teams.

As mentioned, Coach Haines will also be running summer camps and other clinics and such throughout the year. We’re super excited to have him on board, and you can read much more about him here!

Elite Teams

For the 5th straight season, we’ll once again be fielding boys “elite” teams in grades 9-11. This season we’ve added on an “academic” focused team in 10th and 11th grade because we believe we have a special opportunity to help players with good grades use basketball to attend some of the best academic institutions that will set them up for the rest of their lives.

However, our Elite teams are not for everyone. These teams are much more intense than our other local club teams and are specifically for players who not only want to play in college, but are also talented, skilled, and hard-working enough to actually potentially do it. The Elite teams require more commitment from parents and players.

The Elite program is directed by Brendan Winters and Sim Frazier, and this season there will be 5 Elite teams, including:

• 17U
• 17U Academic
• 16U
• 16U Academic
• 15U

This season, tryouts for our Elite teams and local teams will be held all together. Simply sign up for whatever grade your child is in and in the closest area to you possible (ie. Lake Norman or Central Charlotte). The top players from tryouts will be selected for our Elite teams based out of central Charlotte, and the best of the remaining players will be selected for our local club teams.
